| Assessing the environmental impact of mine tailings
on the King River in Tasmania required building a multidisciplinary
team with the necessary skills and expertise including geochemistry,
hydrogeology, aqueous chemistry, fluvial geomorphology, geology
and project management. |

Recent projects completed by Earth Systems include:
Project
manager and key consultant in Project No. 5 Tailings Chemistry,
where the impact of mine tailings from the Mount Lyell Copper Mine
on the King River and Macquarie Harbour was characterised. This
program was jointly funded by the Tasmanian Government and the Office
of the Supervising Scientist.
Detailed
review of the Draft Impact Assessment Statement for the major zinc
mining development, Century, in north-west Queensland.
Development
of a solid waste management strategy for the City of Zhongshan,
Guangdong Province in the People's Republic of China. The study
included a review of present solid waste management practices, identification
of any hazards or risks associated with these practices and the
identification of cost-effective strategies for improving solid
waste management within Zhongshan.
Extensive
review of legislation and practices affecting the environmental
management of mineral exploration and mining development within
a number of States in India.
Archaeological
investigation of options proposed for the Nilma interchange and
two proposed roads near Warragul, Victoria for VicRoads.
